Frequently Asked Questions
I'm not sure what size to order. What do you suggest?
If you currently use a metal thimble that fits fairly well, measure the diameter of the opening with a metric ruler and compare it to My Favorite Thimble's nominal diameters. Petite is 14mm, small is 15mm, medium is 16mm, large is 17mm and x-large is 18mm in diameter. If you use a leather thimble, make your best guess as to which size you believe is closest to what you need. We will send you that size to try. You can always exchange it for another size if it doesn't fit just right. If you are really having trouble guessing your size, we can send you two thimbles of different sizes to try on. You simply return the one that doesn't fit in the padded envelope it originally came in. We'll even provide a return mailing label for your convenience.
How long does the rubber coating last?
The coating is very tough, but it has to be flexible enough to grip the needle and therefore does eventually wear. Applique quilters and quilters who mainly use My Favorite Thimble when attaching bindings can expect years of use. More experienced hand quilters can expect the coating to last several weeks to months depending on how many hours per day they quilt. Novice quilters may wear out the coating faster until they develop a quilting "rhythm". In any case, the rubber coating can be replaced for a nominal charge of $1.00. Mail your thimble back to us at any time and we will replace the coating. Your thimble will be as good as new.
If our repair-and-return policy leaves you without your favorite thimble for too long, we'd like to suggest the My Favorite Thimble Re-Coating Kit. This Kit contains enough material for about 10 repairs. It's fast and easy to use, comes with complete instructions, and will have you quilting again in no time. You can even use the Kit to add a rubbery coating to any metal thimble.
Can I request a special design or color on an Embellished My Favorite Thimble?
We will do our best to honor special design and color requests. However, it is very difficult to draw precise fine line designs with the rubbery material. We will let you know if your request is possible.
Do you sell wholesale to shops or guilds?
Yes, we do have a wholesale division. For more information, please make your request in writing on shop letterhead or through your guild president. You can mail the request to the address given on the Contact Me page or you can fax us at 770-978-5671.
How do you handle orders from quilters in countries other than the United States?

Id like to give one of your products to my Secret Pal. Can you ship directly to her without revealing my identity?
Yes, we are happy to be the middle-woman between you and your Secret Pal. We will send the product(s) of your choice along with a card that lets her know she is receiving the item compliments of a special friend. Of course we dont mention your name, and we let her know that if she needs to exchange for a different size, for instance, there is absolutely no problem. Please give your instructions in the "Special Instructions" area when you get to the PayPal checkout page.
